Current courses taught by Dr. Luo include Biomaterials Science, Structure and Function of Biopolymers, Bionic Engineering, etc. She has supervised 26 master students and 11 Ph.D. students, 2 of whom have won the Chongqing University Distinguished Master/Doctorial Thesis.
【RESEARCH INTERESTS】
1. Smart/Bioinspired materials and implant/interventional devices: To meet the needs to cure various diseases relating to skeletal muscle tissue defects and vascular stenosis, the team led by Dr. Luo designs and develops smart and bioinspired polymeric materials (such as shape memory polymers mimicking the chemical compositions, biomechanics, and topographical structures of extracellular matrix) and implant/interventional devices.
2. Cell-protein-material interactions: With aims to guide the design and selection of appropriate biomaterials and external mechanical loadings, the team by Dr. Luo conducts fundamental researches on cell-protein-material interactions. An emphasis is focus on cell-protein and protein-material interfacial mechanics and their regulation to force transmission and cell fate.
3. High value utilization of biomaterials: Develop high value products from natural and synthetic degradable polymers applied in green packaging, medicine, food and agriculture.
