W.S. Hou, PhD., Professor, Vice Director of the Bioengineering Department in Chonging University.
Prof. Hou has been funded to lead several research studies as a Primary Investigator/Project Leader, including the project (1) of National High-tech R&D Program of China, project (1) of National Key Research and Development Program, Key Projects (5) of Chongqing Basic Science and Frontier Technology Research Program, and other provincial projects (12) funded by the Chongqing Science and Technology Tackling Program, Chongqing Natural Science Foundation Program, etc. He has won 5 awards for his scientific and technological achievements, such as the Second Prize for Technical Invention in Advanced Institutions funded by the Ministry of Education, the Scientific & Technological Award for Production-Academy-Research Promotion of China (Awards for individual contributions), etc. To reward his contribution in education, Prof. Hou also won a First Prize for Teaching Achievements in Chongqing. Prof. Hou has already been granted 15 patents for invention, and has published over 80 papers in SCI journals including the top magazines such as the IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems & Rehabilitation Engineering; IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering; Frontiers in neuroscience, etc. He has also published textbooks as chief editors in "13th Five-Year Plan" (1) and other programs (3). He has also given more than 10 invited reports in several important international and domestic academic conferences such as Annual meetings hosted by IEEE EMBS and Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, etc. For undergraduate and graduate students, Prof. Hou give lectures in courses such as Medical Signal Processing, Introduction to Intelligent Medical Engineering, Engineering Principles and Medical Applications
Research Interests
Neural engineering and rehabilitation:
sensory enhancement and neural interface in motor rehabilitation, technique developments for nerve stimulation and functional regulation, human-computer interaction and closed-loop control in neural rehabilitation
Biomedical information detection:
physiological parameter detection with multi-modality and functional status recognition, wearable sensing detection and intelligent computing, physiological signal detection and health Internet of Things
Medical artificial intelligence:
assistive decision-making and intelligent management in rehabilitation training, characteristics analysis and data mining of medical health signals
